Abstract:

Pfaffia paniculata Pedersen.belonging to Pfaffia genus, which is known as “Brazilian ginseng” in Brazil, is grown originally in South America. The roots of Pfaffia paniculata have been used as a tonic for the treatment for the asexuality, diabetes, sickle cell anemia and rheumatism in folk medicine. Due to its distinct pharmacological effects, Pfaffia paniculata has attracted the most attention in and abroad in recent years. Since Xiaojun Ma successfully introduced it into China in 2001, it has grown extensively in Zhejiang, Sichuan, and Guangxi provinces in China. This masteral dissertation deals with chemical constituents on the roots of Pfaffia paniculata Pedersen. which were collected in Parana river valley state of Parana Brazil. By employing modern chromatographic techniques, twelve compounds were isolated from the alcoholic extracts of roots of Pfaffia paniculata Pedersen. and their structures were elucidated by spectrometric analysis including IR, ~1HNMR, ~(13)CNMR, HMQC, HMBC, EI-MS, FAB-MS as well as chemical methods. The compounds including two mocosterone: ecdysterone (I)、 20-hydroxyecdysone-20,22-monoacetonide (II); one cerebrosidel-O-β-glucopyranosyl-(2S,3S,4R)-2-[2\'(R)-hydroxyhexadecosanoyl-am-ino]-4-octadecene-1,3-diol (III) ; four oleanane-type triterpenes: oleanolic acid (IV) 、 oleanolic acid 3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside-methyl ester (V) 、 oleanolic acid 3-O-β-D-glucuro-nopyranoside) (VI)、 oleanoic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (VII); one aromatic compound: 4-hydroxy-3-metho- xy-benzoicacid (VIII); four sterols: stigmasterol (IX)、 stigmasteryl-3-O-β-D-glucoside (X)、 β-sitosterol (XI) 、 daucosterol(XII), Among which, compound II、 III、 V、 VI、 VIII are first reported from pfaffia genus, compound IV、 VII are first reported from Pfajfia paniculata Pedersen.
